Turn left and take the elevator up to Level 4. Turn right out of the elevator and right again. C4 Hematology is straight ahead.
The Hematology inpatient unit (C4) provides care for individuals with malignant hematological diseases. The primary modes of therapy are intensive chemotherapy, transfusion and antibiotic support for immunosuppression and stem cell transplantation.
Spanning over 13 000 square feet, the Hematology unit has 37 beds in total, a majority of which are private rooms featuring picturesque views of the Hamilton skyline and Lake Ontario. It's designed with a patient and family-centered focus, including a patient and family kitchen/lounge, as well as private rooms available for those wishing to spend the night or rest for a period of time. Locker space is also available for families to store their belongs.
Both Hematology and Oncology Day services are outfitted with a specialized HEPA filtered air supply to help promote infection control and protect patients against the transmission of airborne illnesses.
The Hematology team includes hematologists, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, social workers, dieticians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, bone marrow transplant coordinators, a clinical educator, environmental aids and administrative and customer support staff. This highly specialized team works in partnership with patients and families to meet their goals.
Creating a supportive environment and providing care that reflects what matters most to our patients and families is very important to the C4 team. We invite patients and families to work closely with our team and to share their feedback and any compliments with us.
