St. Peter's Hospital

Our Mission

Enhancing Lives through:

  • Caring hearts and capable hands
  • Innovation and collaboration
  • Service, education, and research

Inspirational innovative approaches to care and a focus on research into issues affecting seniors and those with chronic illness and disability are contributing to enhancing the lives of hundreds of people at St. Peter's everyday.

For individuals who are coping with challenges associated with stroke, hip fracture, terminal illness, arthritis, amputation, traumatic injury, heart or kidney disease, dementia or neurological conditions, there is no quick cure, or high tech piece of equipment that will make them better. Traditional methods of care are not always an option for our patients and residents.

That is why we are committed to finding ways to minimize and manage the daily effects of lifelong illness through our high touch, low tech approach to care.

The Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant Local Health Integration Network has the largest seniors' population - over 200,000 seniors aged 65 and over - of any of the 14 LHINs in our province. by 2017, this number will increase by 76,000 individuals. This means that the need for seniors' health care and care for individuals requiring rehabilitative or palliative services will also increase.

The amalgamation of St. Peter's Hospital and Hamilton Health Sciences will make it possible to develop and implement a sustainable system of leading edge health care services and rehabilitation for seniors and those with chronic or irreversible illness now and in the future.
